Yoga Nidra
Guided deep rest, breath and meditation · private session with Karin Leppens
Service Description
An invitation to rest, deeply. Yoga Nidra, literally 'yogic sleep', is a guided practice done lying down. You settle under a blanket, close your eyes, and Karin's voice leads your attention through the body, the breath and the senses into the still, spacious state between waking and sleep: the body rests completely while the mind stays softly aware. Nothing is required of you except to lie down and listen. Its roots are old. Yoga Nidra grows out of the tantric practice of nyasa, moving attention systematically through the body, described in Indian texts many centuries ago. The form taught today was shaped in the twentieth century by the Himalayan tradition of Swami Rama and by the Bihar School of Swami Satyananda. Karin teaches in the Himalayan style: unhurried, precise and gentle. What people notice: a calmer nervous system, a quieter mind, deeper sleep in the nights that follow, and the sense of having truly rested. Practised regularly, Yoga Nidra supports recovery from stress, concentration and emotional balance. Every session includes pranayama (breathwork) and a short meditation as well as the Yoga Nidra practice itself. Open to everyone. No experience, flexibility or fitness is needed. It suits complete beginners, people who 'can't meditate', tired bodies and busy minds. If lying flat is uncomfortable, a chair or props work just as well. Wear something warm and comfortable, and bring a blanket. Private session of 60 minutes. Group sessions, at home or at the workplace, on request: contact us for options and rates. Taught by Karin Leppens, independent yoga practitioner (karinleppens.com). Yoga is offered as a wellbeing practice; it is not therapy or medical treatment.
